(1) EPA announces first-ever nationwide standard for mercury and air toxics pollution from power plants.

(2) U.S. Army Corps of Engineers publish the Aquatic Nuisance Species Control Paper, “Inventory of Available Controls for Aquatic Nuisance Species of Concern – Chicago Area Waterway System”. The paper identifies the range of options or technologies available to prevent Asian carp from reaching the Great Lakes.
(3) Cook County Inspector General’s report alleges that, for years, highway workers have been dumping roadway and  sewer waste at a pair of work yards, creating large mounds that potentially could be contaminating the environment.,0,1608061.story
