Illinois Environmental News Update

Here’s your Illinois environmental news update for this morning from across the internet:

(1) Illinois EPA awards the Village of Schaumburg a $43,278 Municipal Brownfields Redevelopment Grant to conduct environmental assessment activities at a former Murzyn-Anderson facility.  The grant will aid the Village in assessing the extent and impact of contamination left behind after years of commercial operations at the site. http://www.illinois.gov/PressReleases/ShowPressRelease.cfm?SubjectID=29&RecNum=9931

(2) Members of the Illinois House and Senate recently approved an extension of the State’s biodiesel blending program. The bill extends the sunset date for the biodiesel state sales tax incentives to Dec. 31, 2018. With the extension, any biodiesel blend of more than 10 percent continues to be eligible for fuel tax exemption.http://rockrivertimes.com/2011/12/19/illinois-legislators-extend-biodiesel-program-for-five-years/
