You’re Invited: November 30th CBA YLS Environmental Law Committee Meeting Featuring OSHA Speaker

As Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, I invite attorneys of all ages, law students, and interested members of the public to attend our next meeting.  The meeting will take place on November 30th at 12:15 pm at Jenner & Block LLP, 353 N. Clark Street in Chicago.  Lunch will be generously provided by our host, Jenner & Block.  If you plan to attend, please send your RSVP to Allison Torrence at
The YLS Environmental Law Committee is continuing our “View from the Trenches” series, in which speakers will cover each of the environmental statutes by (1) giving an introduction of the statute, (2) discussing an interesting case the speaker worked on, and (3) providing tips and traps for young lawyers.

Our speaker on November 30th will be Gabrielle Sigel, who is a partner at Jenner & Block. Ms. Sigel will speak on “What All Environmental Lawyers Should Know About the Occupational Safety and Health Act (OSHA).”

Ms. Sigel’s national practice focuses primarily on environmental, climate change, and safety and health litigation matters. She regularly represents clients in complex environmental statutory, common law, Superfund enforcement, and cost recovery actions. The breadth of Ms. Sigel’s environmental safety and health, and toxic tort practice allows her to represent clients on all aspects of claims concerning release of or exposure to hazardous substances. Ms. Sigel also regularly litigates, on behalf of policyholders, coverage claims relating to environmental and toxic tort matters. A significant portion of Ms. Sigel’s practice also involves representing employers in matters concerning work-related injuries and chemical exposures, including OSHA proceedings, personal injury lawsuits, criminal investigations, workers’ compensation hearings and insurance coverage claims.

Ms. Sigel began developing her diverse legal practice when she joined Jenner & Block in 1983, immediately after graduating cum laude from Boston University School of Law. Her undergraduate education was at Oberlin College, from which she graduated as a Senior Scholar in 1980.
