As Co-Chair of the Environmental Law Committee of the Chicago Bar Association Young Lawyers Section, I invite you to our next committee meeting. The meeting will take place on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 12:15 pm at the Chicago Bar Association, 321 S. Plymouth Court in Chicago.
We are beginning our “View from the Trenches” series, in which speakers will cover each of the environmental statutes by (1) giving an introduction of the statute, (2) discussing an interesting case the speaker worked on, and (3) providing tips and traps for young lawyers.
Our speaker on October 21st will be Susan Franzetti, who is a partner at Nijman Franzetti LLP. Ms. Franzetti will speak on the Clean Water Act, specifically renewal of National Pollutant Discharge Elimination System (“NPDES”) permits.
Ms. Franzetti focuses primarily on environmental compliance counseling, regulatory and litigation matters. She has extensive experience in water pollution matters, including the negotiation and appeal of NPDES permits, industrial pretreatment discharge permits, effluent toxicity issues, TMDLs, use attainability analyses, rule-making proceedings, and other wastewater issues. Ms. Franzetti’s litigation experience includes enforcement, injunctive relief and damages cases brought under CERCLA, RCRA, the Clean Air Act and Clean Water Act. Ms. Franzetti received her J.D., cum laude, from Loyola University of Chicago in 1979, and her B.A. from Northwestern University in 1976.
We invite attorneys of all ages and law students to attend.
