Illinois Pollution Control Board Thursday, May 18th Brown Bag Lunch and Learn

Deborah Stone (Cook County Chief Sustainability Officer and Director)

Cook County’s sustainability program includes not only its own facilities and operations, but new approaches to increasing sustainability for municipalities, businesses and residents within the County. Director Deborah Stone will outline how the County reduced its own GHG emissions 22% in the last 5 years. Plans for new programs are also on the menu–community solar pilots, reuse and recycling of building/demolition materials, and energy assistance for residents and businesses. Director Stone will also discuss the Department’s role as delegated authority, in cooperation with the USEPA and IEPA, for the County’s air and pollution issues.
